Feng Shui is based on the belief that your space mirrors your life. As you likely have experienced first hand, there is a connection between your home and your well-being. The objects and energy in your environment impact your life: career, stress levels, health, relationships and success. If you’d like to stimulate your wealth and abundance, or improve your love life there are ways to do that using the Bagua Map. A bagua map is like a blueprint that you can overlay over a floorplan, room, office or even a desk to have a formula to enhance nine significant areas in your life. The map consists of a 3 x 3 equal grid representing nine different energy centers:
- Health and Well-being (Center)
- Love & Relationships (Rear Right)
- Career (Front Middle)
- Wealth and Prosperity (Rear Left)
- Family (Middle Left)
- Creativity and Children (Middle Right)
- Knowledge and Wisdom (Front Left)
- Fame & Reputation (Rear Middle)
- Helpful People & Travel (Front Right)
Within each of these centers there are certain elements, colors, shapes and symbols that improve the energy for each of the different focuses. Through removing obstacles, circulating positive energy and infusing your dreams and goals into each energy center you can improve your life through Feng Shui. There is much to share in regards to Feng Shui, though this is a wonderful tool to begin to notice the different energy centers. The way you apply this map to your home, is to first draw out a main level floor plan to scale, then overlay this nine section grid, dividing the length and width of the home by 3 to see the size of each center. The bottom edge of the bagua map will line up with your main entrance, so therefore either the Knowledge and Wisdom, Career or Helpful People centers will be at the front of your home. If you have a irregular shaped home, this will result in either extensions or missing parts of a center. For irregular shapes homes, I’d recommend booking a Feng Shui Assessment to determine the areas as that requires further depth of knowledge to determine where the centers are located. However, for many this will provide a good basis to begin improving your home’s energy with Feng Shui. The bagua map can also be applied to a single room, an office or even a desk. You can layer the bagua map to improve the alignment of your home with your goals, though it is recommended to start within the main floor of your home first for greatest impact.
Take a look at the Bagua Map diagram below:

Simplified bagua map for you to follow to improve the Feng Shui in your home!
As you see, each center has a defined element (fire, water, earth, metal or wood) that enhances the energy the best, as well as a second element that will help promote the primary element, as well as one that reducing the power of the main element. The goal is to infuse the main element into the energy center, while looking to reduce the destructive element from that area of the bagua map. Feng Shui is all about balancing the elements, the yin and the yang, as well as the masculine and feminine energy of a space to create the ideal supportive environment to support your personal life goals.
Additionally, each center has colors that enhance the energy center, see if you can bring in that color! Furthermore, each of them also has their ideal shapes associated with each center. You can look to have artwork, furniture and decor to reflect these elements, shapes and color. Lastly, it is recommended that the content of the decor and artwork is in alignment with the theme of the center, for example photos of your family in the Family Center, or pictures of love birds in the Love and Relationships center. This will help energize positive outcomes in each of those areas of your life.
